Job SummaryUnder the supervision of a Child Life Specialist or Recreational Therapist, plans and implements diversional recreation services to assist with alleviating the affects of hospitalization and or improve quality of life.
Maintains program areas and supplies.
Essential Job Functions Demonstrates knowledge of developmental and diagnosis and is able to apply it in daily practice.
Cleans departmental equipment and organizes closets as designated in the competency expectations, following established timelines, taking initiative to organize and clean other areas when needed.
Monitors and maintains inventory of general supplies and equipment as designated in competency expectations, ordering supplies in an accurate timely manner.
Assists department staff in planning and implementation of therapy groups, special events and community trips.
Communicates effectively with patients, families and staff.
Orients and supervises assigned volunteers and community groups according to hospital policy.
Ability to assess and evaluate overall patient level of functioning to determine appropriate activities and adaptations.
Performs other duties as assigned based on need of department Maintains a safe environment for patient care activities In LTC programs, completes required documentation on day of service Implements diversional recreation activities opportunities for a variety of ages and abilities Formal Education and Job-Related ExperienceHigher Education preferred.
Previous work experience with children with special needs or previous experience with children.
CertificationAHA BLS Provider Certification required.
LicenseValid drivers license required.
